Kültür University IBM Identity Management and Access Control Project

User Accounts Managed from a Single Center at Istanbul Kültür University!

Kültür University has successfully completed the transition process to the Identity Management System in collaboration with Bilgi Birikim Sistemleri. In order to meet the need resulting from developments recorded in educational networks and corporate structures, Kültür University, which started to investigate solutions that could meet this demand, chose IBM Security Identity and Access Manager for the project.

Ender Ekici, Head of Information Systems and Technologies Department at Kültür University, spoke about the process conducted with BBS: "Centralized management of student and administrative personnel accounts was one of the most important needs that emerged during our growth process. Allowing all users to use the password renewal and reminder service as "self-service" was among our top needs. We thought that creating a single account for different services would be more effective than creating and managing multiple accounts for different services. The Identity Management software started at the point where we applied to meet our needs."

Regarding the contributions to Kültür University at the end of the project, Ekici said, "IBM Security Identity and Access Manager (IAM) enables the centralized management of all services requiring user accounts. In the old structure, there were deficiencies or inconsistencies in the data creating user accounts, but this problem was solved with the new system. Another convenience provided by IAM is authorization. With IAM, which allows creating user profiles, it can be determined who can access which service to what extent. One of the most important advantages of IAM was providing our users with access to current and future IT solutions with a single password and username."

Oktay Şükür, Business Development Manager responsible for IBM software product sales at BBS, said the following about the Kültür University identity and access management project: "In terms of BBS, this project has been quite important in terms of customer satisfaction continuity with the completion of the Customer-Solution Partner collaboration and the SAP integration in the 2nd phase. IBM Security Identity and Access Manager is a necessary and value-added solution for organizations with a large number of systems or users using systems. This project has been a pioneering work for other educational institutions."

Armağan Temur, Corporate Sales Manager responsible for the education sector at BBS, said, "We have been working with great excitement since we heard about Kültür University's transition project to the Identity Management System. We are both proud and happy to have provided significant benefits at the end of the project. We believe that this successful project will set an example for other universities in the education sector."
